Accessing Windows Network Resources via PPTP VPN

To get Network Neighborhood or My Network Places to display correctly, a WINS or DNS server needs to be configured on the LAN to store the computer name information. This is a function of Windows and any questions regarding this configuration should be directed to Microsoft technical support.

Since this method of browsing resources on a LAN is a Windows technology it does not translate well to Linux computers, like the InstaGate. It is recommended that to access these LAN resources you click on the Start Menu, then Run. In the run dialog box enter [ipaddress], where [ipaddress] is the IP of the machine whose resources you would like to access and press OK. This should open a new window that displays the resources available on that computer. You may have to enter login information to access the shared resources.
