Gateway Anti-Spyware - Custom Destination Rules
Overview
Custom Destination Rules allow you to Block, Allow or Trust a domain or IP address. By using Custom Destination Rules you can allow client access to blocked domains, disable file scanning or completely block a domain or IP address.
Configuration
You can enter Custom Destination Rules by going to Gateway Anti-Spyware > Custom Destination Rules.
The "Allow" action allows you to remove blocks on pre-installed, blacklisted IPs or domains. When you "Allow" an IP or domain, the site is still scanned for spyware. The "Allow" action allows you to enter parent domains only (example: trendmicro.com covers www.trendmicro.com and ww2.trendmicro.com).
The "Block" action allows you to block IPs or domains by selecting action "Block". This action lets you to add additional domains to the pre-installed list of blacklisted IPs or domains. When you "Block" an IP or domain, no LAN client will be able to get to this site. The "Block" action allows you to enter parent domains only (example: zwire.com covers www.zwire.com and web2.zwire.com).
The "Trust" action allows you to exempt an IP or domain by selecting action "Trust". This action will exempt a site from Gateway Anti-Spyware scanning. The "Trust" action requires that you enter the **exact domain** that you wish to exempt from scanning. Parent domains will not work with the "Trust" action.
It is important to note the difference between the "Allow" and "Trust" actions. Sites marked as "Trust" bypass the Gateway Anti-Spyware scanning. Sites marked as "Allow" are still scanned.
**Sites should only be marked as trusted if you experience spyware false positives, such as antivirus signature or spyware signature downloads.**
