Gateway Anti-Spyware - Disable Scanning Protocols (DNS, HTTP, FTP, SMTP)
Overview
Depending on the features that are enabled on your unit scanning for certain protocols will be enabled by default. The proxy and scanning process of Gateway Anti-Spyware can be an intrusive process which can cause problems with some connections. Because of this you have the option to enable and disable scanning protocols from the User Interface.
Configuration
To turn off scanning for a protocol, go to Gateway Anti-Spyware > Settings > Advanced. Gateway Anti-Spyware has the ability to scan DNS, HTTP, FTP and SMTP protocols. Uncheck any protocol you wish to disable and click Apply to disable scanning on that protocol.
Troubleshooting
It is not recommended to disable a protocol if you experience a problem with a particular protocol. In these cases it is more effective and secure to use the Custom Source Rules and Custom Destination Rules to exempt a host or domain from scanning. For more information click the links for each.
