InstaGate Installation Guide

Overview

This document outlines the Setup Wizard and  how to install the eSoft InstaGate.

 

Installation

  1. Assign you PC or laptop an IP address in the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet.
     
  2. Connect that computer to the LAN1 port on the InstaGate.
     
  3. Open a web browser and go to https://192.168.1.1:8001.
     
  4. Select the language you wish to view the Web Interface in and then click the Next button.
     
  5. Read the EULA, and then click Accept to continue.



  6. Next is Registration.



  7. Click Next to continue.
     
  8. During this phase of the setup process, you will:



    • Set the host name
    • Set Time Zone and System Time
    • Unless required by law or your ISP, do not enable Use proxy for outgoing secure HTTP traffic.
       
  9. Click Next to continue.
     
  10. This step establishes administrative accounts and passwords:



    • Enable and create Local Administrators
    • Specify a Remote Administrator email address
    • Set the "admin" user password
       
  11. Click Next to continue.
     
  12. Next is Internet Connectivity:
    • Enter your ISP Settings
    • Network Address Translation is enabled by default and is the recommended configuration. If you do not want to use NAT, it can be disabled in this step.
      NOTE: You can re-enable later if you wish



  13. Click Next to continue.

     
  14. You have the option to run connection diagnostics.


     

  15. The diagnostics will test connectivity, via ICMP, to the following addresses specified in the Connection Settings:
    • WAN IP Address
    • Gateway IP Address
    • Primary DNS Server Address
    • www.esoft.com
       


     
  16. Click Next to continue.
     
  17. Click Done to complete the Setup Wizard and begin downloading firmware updates.
