SpamFilter - Image Scanning

Overview

SpamFilter now has the ability to scan images. Once the option is selected, the InstaGate/ThreatWall will scan images that are found in emails, for spam content. This is just another way eSoft products help to protect from unwanted Spam. SpamFilter uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to extract text from images, and passes text through a set of files for matches.

 

Configuration

In the User Interface, click on Settings under the SpamFilter menu. Check the box Scan images for Spam Content to scan images in emails. Click the "Apply" button to save your changes.

 

Troubleshooting

This option is not available for units that have less than 256mb RAM, and is enabled by default for those units that meet the RAM requirement.

Image scanning is a memory intensive process and may cause high load on systems scanning large volumes of email. If a unit is experiencing high load, try disabling this feature to ease the load on the system.
