SSL VPN - FAQ
Overview
eSoft's SSL VPN provide users with a VPN connection that is simple and quick to setup. However, there are many questions that may arise regarding deployment and usage. This document contains a list of frequently asked questions regarding the SSL VPN and the associated SSL VPN Client.
Q: What Operating Systems can I run the SSL VPN Client in?
A: Windows: XP, Vista or 7 (compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions)
Macintosh: OS 10.5 and newer
Linux: any relatively new distro with Java installed
NOTE: All of the above are compatibilities for the automatic installer provided in UserAdmin. You may be able to get a working SSL VPN connection on older versions.
Q: When I log into UserAdmin and try to download the VPN Client, none of the buttons do anything or there are no buttons at all.
A: Make sure you have Java installed on the computer and ActiveX is enabled in your browser. The download link for Java is available in UserAdmin if it is not currently installed on your system.
Q: Do I have to assign an IP subnet that is part of my LAN?
A: No, You can specify other IP ranges to be assigned to users when connecting via SSL VPN
Q: I am already using port 443 (SSL) for other services can I use an alternate port?
A: Yes, you can specify any port you wish when configuring SSL VPN
Q: I have multiple locations with different units, can I use the same VPN Client for all units?
A: No, each unit has unique configuration parameters that will not allow use of a client from a different machine.
Q: Can more than one user account connect from the same computer?
A: Yes, The VPN Client is able to store the configurations for multiple users. But they all must be users on the same unit. And each additional user configuration must be manually imported for the client.
