Using Passthroughs to forward HTTP traffic to my Internal Web Server

Passthroughs

***Please note, if you have the Policies menu option under Firewall, you have the Firewall Policy Manager and these instructions do not apply.

Under the Firewall menu, select Passthrough. Choose Add.

Select the Public IP address which the traffic is destined for in the "WAN IP address" field. You can also use a secondary WAN IP here if you have additional IP addresses. For the "LAN IP address" enter the IP address of the machine on your network to which you would like the traffic to be sent. Next, select the service. You can select custom to enter any non-standard port number. Click Apply to save the passthrough.

Example

You have a Public IP address of 65.45.35.1, you have a web server on your LAN which has an IP address of 192.168.1.2, and you would like to forward port 80.

The "WAN IP address" field will be 65.45.35.1
The "LAN IP address" field will be 192.168.1.2
Select "HTTP" as the service.

For additional services to be sent to the same machine, you will need to create additional passthroughs.

****Please note: The gateway of your internal machine must be the InstaGate's LAN IP address. If no gateway is set, the internal machine will not know where to send the traffic. If an alternate gateway is used, the traffic will return to the host on the internet with a different source IP address. This will cause the host on the internet to drop the response from your server.
