Web Security - Authentication Cache

Overview

The Authentication Cache feature allows the Web Security SoftPak to run more efficiently. Instead of checking client authentication on each request, a cache is created and authentication is only checked at a specified time interval. For environments with large volumes of traffic this feature is highly recommended, particularly with Active Directory integration.

Configuration

To configure the Authentication Cache click on Proxy Settings under the Web Security menu. On the proxy settings page click on Advanced and locate the Authentication Settings section about half way down the page. See the IP address cache timeout setting. Values are entered in seconds.

Default Settings

With authentication enabled this setting will be enabled by default. The default value will be 30 seconds which can be increased or decreased based on your preference. Setting the IP address cache timeout to 0 will force authentication checks on every request. Please note that this setting will not be available if authentication, either Local or Active Directory, is not enabled.
